Imagine knowing how to approach stressful and painful circumstances in your life in a way that leads to optimal health and genuine happiness. Having specific steps you can use when in the throws of anxiety or depression, chronic pain or allergies, burn out or a broken heart – a way to stay on your path and in your power. Is it possible to positively influence the physical health of your body as well as completely change negative thoughts and behaviors you’ve had for years? It’s not only possible; it’s your nature. So what stops so many of us?
The Big Idea
What I’ve come to understand in the past 21 years of working with clients as a Chiropractor and a practitioner of holistic healing is that the greatest roadblock to living to our fullest potential resides within the mystery of our subconscious mind. Discovering this required me to walk an uncharted path. I have been on a mission to find quick, natural, and effective ways to enhance my body’s natural potential for self-healing, my brain’s ability to learn, process, and grow, as well as my ability to authentically open my heart to forgiveness and letting go of the past. I have passionately travelled the world, studying with some of the greatest healers and thought leaders of our time. I have dug deep into my soul seeking to reveal what my colleague, Dr. Tom Bayne and I called the “Big Idea” . . . a way to awaken our fullest and greatest potential as human beings.
Each experience, teacher, and everything I studied, ultimately played a part in my personal awakening. Each modality I learned and used provided a piece of a puzzle to my desired goal: How could I best help and serve my clients? Based on what I already knew, clients made progress, however, there was still something missing. My goal wasn’t progress; it was complete and lasting transformation of a client’s physical and emotional health.
During the summer of 1998, my cousin Rob Morgan worked as an intern in my office in preparation for becoming the first deaf chiropractor to graduate from the Palmer College of Chiropractic. After a full day of observing my work with clients Rob turned to me and held up his hand in a gesture that I was later to learn means “I love you” in American Sign Language. The warm, powerful, and peaceful feeling I experienced as Rob made this sign amazed me. Intrigued by my own internal reaction, I asked Rob to hold his arm up as I assessed different reflex points on his body using a system for assessing the nervous system called Muscle Reflex Testing. Similar to how a doctor shines a light in the eye to evaluate the pupillary reflex, through a reflexive lock out of a muscle test or a giving way, Muscle Reflex Testing can be used to discover specific and subtle imbalances in the body.
When I found a muscle reflex that gave way, I held my hand next to Rob’s body in the “I love you “ sign mode. The reflex in Rob’s arm instantly locked out. Simply holding this hand posture next to Rob’s body positively influenced his nervous system. I was amazed and very curious. I didn’t realize then the full impact of that moment. It would take another three years for all the pieces to fall into place. However, in 2002 I was asked a question that changed everything.
“Darren, do you want to know the truth?” my friend Ingrid said looking me squarely in the eyes. This one question was the proverbial straw that broke the camels back or in my case a massive catalyst for my awakening to a deep truth about healing and the mind. Ingrid said, “The reason you haven’t come up with this “Big Idea” you’ve been talking about is because you’re afraid. You’re just too afraid of how powerful ‘it’ will be.” This statement shook me at my core and caused me to face what I now call the moment where my faith in what’s possible and the fear I had accepted as normal had a head on collision in the center of my heart.
Later that day, around 8:30 pm, I was pacing the floor in my home, hearing Ingrid’s voice in my mind saying, “You’re just too afraid. You’re just too afraid.” This may sound strange, however in that moment of fearful negative looping thoughts and pessimistic voices in my head I saw with clarity something that I was seeing for the very first time. All of the seemingly separate teachings, modalities, and moments of my life began to seamlessly merge into a visible sequence that I was able to draw out. Each of the systems and philosophies that I’d passionately studied came together into what appeared to be a map of some sort.
This map is what is now called The LifeLine Technique Flow Chart. It is a map that reveals a clear pathway to and through the subconscious mind. It unveils the invisible patterns in a person’s life and the role they play in the health of our bodies, behavior, and relationships. With The LifeLine system I began to view each and every perceived problem as a bridge to the very best version of our self. This version exists as a buried treasure within each of us on a subconscious level. Rather then being unlucky or victimized by our bodies and life, I began to understand a hidden purpose to why we experience stress in the first place.
I immediately began to apply The LifeLine Technique Flow Chart and as a result of this moment of awakening to the “Big Idea” I have been blessed and honored to help thousands of people both directly and indirectly through teaching others how to use it for themselves. As complicated as each of the different parts of The LifeLine may appear, the process is actually very simple, fun, and self-affirming.
Using the hand sign of “I Love You” while saying the words “Infinite Love & Gratitude” combined with Muscle Reflex Testing and The LifeLine Technique Flow Chart I began to see the fights, failures, and things we so often perceive need to fixed as a purposeful feedback for intentional growth, learning, healing, and change. LifeLine was so counter to what I had been taught in school. The purpose of a LifeLine session is to use intention to create positive change in the way we perceive symptoms, stress, and disease. In the words of Dr. Wayne Dyer, “When you change the way you view things, the things you view begin to change.”
Here’s the catch. When memories that have not been fully integrated on a subconscious level can be processed, the body speaks with symptoms and our life becomes stressful. This is the way the subconscious mind communicates that we now have the ability to learn and grow when at one point you did not have that conscious ability or support. Because we live in a world that very often views symptoms as a nuisance or something wrong and stress as something that needs to be fixed or ignored, many people chase their tails attempting to make it go away.
For many people, The LifeLine Technique has become daily spiritual practice. What began as a journey to help myself has become a passion to empower others.
Understanding the value of what it means to live with confidence and self-worth in the face of fear and even more to create a compassionate connection with that part of ourselves that is paralyzed with anxiety and worry about what others think or believe is fundamental to manifesting a different outcome in life. Because this connection isn’t transparent on a conscious level we often get caught in the invisible subconscious limiting beliefs and self-sabotaging thoughts that cause many people to remain stuck in patterns of unhealthy relationships, dead-end jobs, and mediocrity.
Since June 17th 2002 it has become second nature for me to embrace my life with Infinite Love & Gratitude. I have written 3 best selling books and taught the LifeLine Certification Program to students around the world all at the same time as running a private practice working with one on one clients. There are now over 500 people who have become Certified LifeLine Practitioners in 24 countries and I have witnessed many times immediate changes in what would appear to be extremely complicated cases. People suffering with traumatic memories, abuse, PTSD, addiction, chronic pain, cancer, autoimmune disease, headaches, and the list goes on.
I’ve come to respectfully know, appreciate, and value that people struggle and suffer not because they are sick, bad, broken, or missing something. Rather, we struggle and suffer because we are not living in our truth. Our truth is we are a masterpiece. We are beautiful. We are special. We have purpose and passion. We all have the ability to make a positive difference. We are love. Pain and fear and the stress that goes along with change are a natural and necessary part of life. We all experience them and what I have come to understand is that it’s not what happens to us in life, but rather how we respond to what’s happening.
Are you ready for a change? Awakening to your calling through the deeper meaning of what your body and life is subconsciously expressing is akin to a snake shedding its skin. What we so often desire is already growing from within. I understand how difficult it is when caught in a vicious loop of anxiety and depression or your body is speaking to you with symptoms of chronic pain or a diagnosis of cancer. However, what you perceive is only part of the picture. Just like the tip of an iceberg only makes up a small fraction of the iceberg, symptoms and stress are a small fraction of what lies below the surface in our subconscious mind.
In a world that does everything to suppress, destroy, and disconnect from the pain, fear, and stress of daily living, it’s become commonplace to reach for a pill or drown our sorrows in work or another glass of wine. We say to ourselves the five most dangerous words, “Maybe it will go away.” hoping that we can go back to a life of fast food, immediate gratification, and numbing ourselves to what we’re authentically feeling. It doesn’t have to be that way.
One beautiful and bright person I’ve met as a result of the “Big Idea” is a DMK skin therapist named Leanne Cave. Leanne read my first book, The Power of Infinite Love & Gratitude and as a result, booked in for having a private one on one LifeLine session. She experienced an immediate shift in her physical and emotional health and consequently decided to take The LifeLine Course in Adelaide, Australia. Impassioned by her experience and what she learned, Leanne completed the full LifeLine Certification Program and is now a Certified LifeLine Practitioner.
She chose to reclaim her power and live her life with authenticity. As a result of Leanne choosing to embrace her own vulnerabilities she has discovered a new sense of confidence and inner strength. Her passion is now contagious, as each and every day she witnesses her clients going through changes she never dreamed possible. Not only is skin healing faster, people are discovering happiness, contentment, and peace from within. Patterns of stress are melting away as Leanne is helping people to discover beauty from the inside out.
It’s said that the closer we get to the light the more apparent our shadows become. The dance between faith and fear is one that either keeps us stuck in the pain and fear of darkness or sets us free to live our lives with honest and heartfelt intentions. The “Big Idea” is we are all interconnected and the more we recognize this simple yet profound truth the more we will discover the blessing of Infinite Love & Gratitude.
